Before you start

SpeedPro athletics coaching FAQ: Questions.

The things parents and athletes ask us most. If your question is not here, email hello [at] speedpro [dot] training and we will answer it.

Getting started

Our groups are for athletes aged 12 and over, with beginner and advanced squads running alongside each other.

Yes. We work with athletes of all abilities. Beginners start with posture, mechanics and movement, then build speed and strength once the technique is sound.

Choose a Tuesday on the trial booking page and tell us about the athlete. They train with us that Tuesday and the Thursday that follows, from 17:30. Two fully coached sessions, free and with no commitment.

Your coach talks through where the athlete is and which group suits them. If you want to carry on we confirm a training schedule and send the costs by email. There is no pressure to decide on the day.

At the track

Sports kit for the weather, trainers or spikes, and a full water bottle. Arrive ten minutes early for introductions.

Wimbledon Park Athletics Track is our main base, with directions on the home page. Saturday sessions are at Barnes.

Yes. Training runs through the year, apart from a short Christmas break (22 December to 12 January this year). Winter work moves towards strength, endurance and technique, and sessions only stop if the track is unsafe.

Parents are welcome to watch from the stand. We ask that coaching is left to the coaches so the group stays focused.

Coaching and competition

Every coach is qualified and licensed through England Athletics and holds an enhanced DBS check. Coaching is led by athletes and coaches with competitive track experience.

Sprints at 100m, 200m and 400m, and middle distance from 800m to 1500m. Supporting strength, conditioning and hurdles work sits alongside both.

Yes. Our athletes compete for their clubs and train with us to improve their results. We are not a replacement for club membership.

SpeedPro is affiliated with Hercules Wimbledon AC. Many of our athletes compete for Hercules, others for their own clubs, and all of them train with us at Wimbledon Park.

Groups are kept small enough that every athlete is seen and corrected in each session. Numbers vary by squad and time of year.

Practical

Costs depend on the group and the number of sessions a week. We send them after the trial, once we know which squad suits the athlete.

Group sessions run at set times and cannot be changed or moved. If the athlete cannot make one, just let their coach know. One to one sessions can be moved: email hello [at] speedpro [dot] training as early as you can and we will find another time.

You can cancel your monthly subscription at any time through Manage Account, where you can also update your card details and see your payments. The month you have already paid for is the last one: sessions carry on until the end of it and nothing further is taken. Missed sessions are not refunded. The full detail is in our terms of service.

Limited one to one slots are available around the group sessions. Ask your coach or contact us and we will tell you what is free.
