Story By Athlete - Neva Jansen
The season began with an exciting 600m at Lee Valley between Thomas Whorton and Tommaso Crosara. For Thomas, whose main event is the 800m, this race showed just how much progress he has made. He ran an outstanding personal best of 1:24.52, shaving 7 seconds off his previous best. A few weeks later at the BFTTA Indoor Series, he backed this up with another strong run of 1:24.51. Tommaso Crosara, already a National and English Schools champion over the 300m, stepped up in distance and ran an impressive personal best of 1:25.66 at just 14 years old.
Alongside this, Alex Hughes and Theo Brayman both competed in their first-ever indoor races. As new members of the SpeedPro family, they rose to the challenge and delivered excellent performances. Alex ran a personal best of 1:30.14, with Theo close behind in 1:33.79. It was a great introduction to indoor racing for both athletes and a strong platform to build on in 2026.
In the same event, Holly Townsend and Beatrice Eminson stepped down from the 800m to race the 600m. For Holly, this was her first indoor race, where she ran a well-deserved personal best of 1:39.42. Beatrice also ran strongly, clocking a personal best of 1:40.97. Their commitment to training quickly showed, as both athletes went on to run personal bests over 800m a few weeks later. Holly ran 2:19.97 in her first indoor 800m, while Beatrice ran 2:20.52. These performances highlight the consistency and effort they bring to every session. Joining them was one of our newest athletes, Maya, who ran a solid 2:30.39 in her indoor 800m debut.
December also brought strong results from our shorter-distance athletes. Lia Clemmy ran 8.50 seconds in her first-ever indoor 60m, followed by a 46.39 in the indoor 300m. Amelia Barnes and Soren also opened their indoor seasons well, with Amelia running 8.35 for 60m and Soren clocking 7.66. Later the same day, Amelia ran 27.90 in the 200m, while Soren recorded personal bests of 38.62 in the 300m. These performances reflect the depth and quality within the group.
The standout moment of the season came with Thomas Whorton's victory in the South of England 1500m. After an up-and-down year and an extended return from injury, Thomas stepped up in distance and delivered a championship performance. He ran a huge personal best of 4:14.11, winning gold against a strong field. It was a proud moment for everyone involved and a fitting highlight to end 2025.
