Story By Athlete - Neva Jansen
As the indoor season draws to a close, the group's focus is starting to shift towards the outdoor season. With the Surrey Championships nearing, many athletes already have that important championship in mind.
Before that transition fully starts, it is important to reflect on some of the recent achievements from the indoor season.
National Indoor Medallist
After securing consecutive wins in the 1500m and 800m at the South of England Indoor Championships, Thomas stepped onto the national stage in Sheffield.
He won his heat confidently with a slight personal best of 1:58.09, progressing comfortably into the final the next day.
Thomas came back even stronger in the final. He remained calm under pressure and achieved a superb personal best of 1:56.39, winning the silver medal and his second national medal.
The performance was especially significant given where he was a year earlier. At that time, injury had kept him out of competition for a long period, and his future seasons remained uncertain.
His comeback story in the article From Injury to National 800m Silver – Thomas's Story, looks at how Thomas went from missing a full season to becoming a national medallist.
The SpeedPro group is extremely proud of Thomas. His journey demonstrates the importance of patience, trust in the process, and consistent effort over time. We look forward to seeing what the outdoor season will bring and what more he can accomplish this year.
A Strong Indoor Season for SpeedPro
This indoor season has been a successful one for SpeedPro. Across the group, there have been numerous personal bests and several medals at the championship level.
With that foundation in place, the focus now shifts outdoors. The aim will be to build on this momentum as athletes prepare for the upcoming championship season.
Cross Country Performances
Alongside the indoor season, the cross-country season has also been taking place. While the SpeedPro group does not specifically focus on cross-country racing, several athletes delivered standout performances.
Recently, several SpeedPro athletes competed in their borough schools' championships to qualify for the English Schools.
Beatrice Eminson finished 5th at the London Schools Championships, and Holly Townsend placed 9th at the Middlesex Schools Championships. Both performances secured their selection for English Schools.
Both athletes have worked incredibly hard throughout the winter period. Their selections are particularly impressive, given that cross-country has not been their primary focus.
It is a fantastic achievement, and we wish both athletes the best of luck at the English Schools Championships in Liverpool on 14 March.
