Thomas Whorton secures a U15 800m Indoor Silver at the National Indoor Championships

The weekend kicked off with Thomas securing his spot in the final, confidently winning his heat in 2:06.17. With a medal in his sights, he returned the next day ready to compete at his best. As one of the event favourites, the pressure leading up to race day was high, but he embraced it, delivering an outstanding performance. Thomas ran an intelligent, controlled race, leading for much of it and ultimately smashing his PB with a time of 2:03.31, earning himself a well-deserved Silver Indoor National medal.

Former world champion and marathon record holder Paula Radcliffe once said, “For an athlete, the biggest pressure comes from within. You know what you want to do and what you can do.” Thomas proved that, shaving six seconds off his time since starting his five-month training block. With this breakthrough performance, he’s set for an exciting outdoor season that promises even more success.
